SHARE Christmas Closures
LatestLeave a comment

As we move closer to the end of year, SHARE would like to thank each and everyone for supporting us! This year was a difficult one for everyone, but with the support of our wonderful members, we were able to re-open in July and keep going throughout the second lockdown. We hope that we have helped make this year a little easier (and affordable) for carrying out DIY projects, upkeeping your gardens, making yummy food and keeping you entertained!

We will be taking a 2 week break this Christmas, with our last open day on Monday, 21st December, 10:30am – 4pm. We will then be closed over Christmas and New Year, and our first day back will be Monday January 4th, 10:30am – 4pm.

Remember, if you want to borrow between these 2 weeks, you will only need to pay for one loan! That’s 3 loans for free!

If you want to add some last minute cheer to your home, we’ve still got some decorations, crafts, trees, and tree holders in stock, so check out our Christmas section. And don’t forget that we are offering all of these Christmas items FREE for Subscriber members! Simply search ‘xmas‘ in our catalogue to see what is available on this promotion. This offer will end on the 4th January, so reserve by the 21st of December!

Want to upgrade from Standard to Subscriber? Give us a call on Mondays or Fridays between 10.30am and 4pm to upgrade!

Give the Gift of Borrowing!
LatestLeave a comment

We are excited to announce that we will be offering the option to send gift certificates to friends and family! A great zero-waste and eco-friendly way to tell them you love them this Christmas and all year round! We are offering amounts from £5 to £50. Your loved one can use this, not only on borrowing items, but also for renewing their SHARE:Frome membership!

To Send a Gift Certificate

Simply login to sharefrome.org, or if you are not a member, go to https://share.myturn.com. You do not need to be a SHARE member to send a gift certificate, but if you are a paying member, it will make it easier to make the payment, as your card should already be saved. To start, click on the small gift icon in the top right corner of the page.

This will bring you to the Gift Certificates page. Here you will be able to fill out the form, selecting how much you would like to gift, and to whom. You will only need to provide the name, email and message. The recipient does not need to be a SHARE member for you to send it, but they will need to be a member in order to use the gift certificate.

To make the payment, you can use the card that is already saved on your account if you are a member. If you are not a member or do not have a card saved, once you have filled in this form, you will be brought to a form to enter your card details.

To Redeem your Gift Certificate

Once the gift certificate is sent, your recipient will have an email with a long digit code, which they can then redeem on their SHARE:Frome account. Once logged in or signed up, simply go to My Account, then Redeem Gift Certificate and here they can enter the long digit code. The credit will then be added to the recipients account!

If you have any trouble, please call us on 07983 639611 during our opening hours, Monday and Friday 10.30am – 4pm.

Happy Gifting!

Get a Free borrow This Black Friday!
LatestLeave a comment

With Black Friday coming up, why not make it a Green Friday instead and borrow instead of buying? To make it that little bit more enticing we are offering one FREE borrow for every member!

Like last year, we are taking part in #BuyNothingDay, an international movement against over-consumption for the good of the planet.

With your free borrow, you could save as much as £8 on a drill, projector or dehumidifier! Browse our catalogue to see what we offer. Get the bargain without having to find space in your home or shed!

To claim your FREE borrow:

  • You must be a member of SHARE – If you’re not already please sign up online and remember to bring ID with you on collection.
  • The free borrow is from Friday 27th to Monday 30th. For longer loans or renewals the extra time will be charged at the usual loan fee.

Why are our things priced differently?
LatestLeave a comment

Ever wondered why some of our similar things are priced differently? There are around 15 drills in our inventory, but they all have different prices? Well, we’ve developed a sophisticated pricing system which takes in to account a number of factors, such as the original price of the item, how old it is and the condition it’s in now.

So, if you are looking for something for a quick job and don’t need high quality then go for cheaper. But if you’re after the best quality item then it’s worth paying for the higher quality item.

We also make sure to keep updating the prices with our price calculation system, and monitor the items as they are used and downgrade. So we try to make sure you get what you pay for!

Fiver Fest is on it’s Way!
LatestLeave a comment

You may remember last year, the national Fiver Fest came to Frome for one day to celebrate local business, but this year, it’s here for a whole weekend on the 15th to the 17th October!

Part of the national Totally Locally campaign, it is an affordable way to support local businesses, often run by families or individuals, making a real contribution to our unique town. Spending just £5 a week in local shops can have a huge impact on our high streets, boosting the local economy and increasing employment, especially in our current situation. It’s also a great opportunity to step into a shop you’ve never been before and discover what makes Frome’s independents so special.

SHARE:Frome, our community started and run business, will be taking part in Fiver Fest and offering Standard membership for only £5, saving new members £10 off our regular £15 joining fee (see our membership plans)! This will pay for a year’s membership! A great opportunity to start borrowing if you’ve only ever been curious about the funny little orange shop in town. This will only be available to claim on Friday 16th October, during our opening hours, 10.30am to 4pm. Either pop in or give us a call on 07983 639611!

New Items In!
LatestLeave a comment

We’ve ordered a series of new items that have just arrived in the shop! If you want to grab them, be sure to reserve them quickly as they are popular demand. See our opening times below or call us to make a reservation.

First, just in time for wedding season, we have several new and sturdier gazebo shelters, these are perfect for events and parties during the summer months.

Also great for events, we have a large disco ball, which can take your party to the next level, especially if there is dancing! For only £4.00 to borrow, that’s a steal! And why not entertain the kids at the same time with our new bubble machine!

Another item that could save you a lot of money is our new PA system. A big step up from our portable PA system, with 4 large speakers and stands, and a control board, it is perfect for concerts, shows and other events. No need to buy or rent one elsewhere, when you can pay only £20.00 per week at Share.

For all you adventure lovers, we now have 2 new inflatable kayaks, whether you’re starting out in the Frome river or taking it on holiday with the family, these are a great borrow-don’t-buy item.

Lastly, for the kids, we have a brightly coloured wooden balance bike for 2-5 year olds, a great way to teach your kids to eventually ride a big bike. With dampened steering, non-slip grip handle with safety ends and soft padded adjustable seat.

So if you haven’t got your Share membership yet or it needs renewing, pop in on a Monday, Wednesday or Friday between 10am and 4pm, or Saturday 10am to 12pm, or call us on 07983 639611.

It’s Festival Season!
LatestLeave a comment

Festival season is finally here, so if you’re getting ready to camp in the mud, dance in the heat and (most likely) not shower for a week, why not see what camping gear and other useful things we have, to make your festival experience even better?

Not only do we have tents, sleeping bags and mats, we also have cooking gear, camping tables and chairs, lights, rucksacks, a cooler box, and hammocks. You could even get creative and borrow some bunting to make your tent stand out among the sea of other tents!

Festivals are also a time of community and music, so why not borrow one of our guitars, ukuleles and drums to jam around the fire (be careful though). And to keep the kids entertained, we have all sorts of lightweight toys and games, like a hoola hoops, a play tunnel, circus trick set, paddling pool, and more.

Spring is here!
LatestLeave a comment

As you have probably noticed, the weather is always up and down. Sun one day, snow and hail the next. We had one of the the warmest February days recorded, and a month later it finally feels like spring has arrived, so why not start preparing for the warmer days? We have a lot of bits and pieces at The Share Shop that can save you money during the spring and summer months.

It’s seed sowing season and time to start working in the garden, so instead of buying new gardening tools, why not see if The Share Shop has what you’re looking for? See gardening tools

If you’re thinking of having a BBQ or outdoor party, we have a good quality barbeque and tools, camping chairs, bunting and other events items to save you money. Plastic consumption is a big problem at the moment, so instead of buying throwaway cutlery and plates, you could borrow some of our good quality glasses, plates and cutlery. See event items

Need to keep the kids entertained, outside and off the TV/phones/ipads? We have various sports equipment, as well as other fun things for kids, such as a paddling pool, a hoola hoop, roller blades and scooters. See Childrens and Sports

The average drill is used for only 13 minutes in its entire lifetime.

What if, instead of buying that drill, you could borrow one from a neighbour you have never met before?

Welcome to SHARE:Frome!

Our thinking is that too much money nowadays is spent on ‘stuff’. Things are used for a short space of time and then spend most of their lifetime locked away in a shed, kitchen, garage etc.

Spend Less, Waste Less, Connect More!

Our aim is to get people spending less, wasting less and connecting more. And by doing this, help people to save money, reduce carbon and waste, and cultivate a happier, more resilient community.

SHARE is a community space for Frome, tailored to local people’s needs. A place for people to borrow objects, share skills and connect with others, in a welcoming and fun environment.
